LAFCO COMMENTS DUE TUESDAY 9/20
Last Chance for Residents to Tell LAFCO How They Feel About Potential Takeover of Water District
If you support a thriving and independent TPWD (Twentynine Palms Water District) here’s your chance to speak up. The LAFCO committee welcomes and takes seriously comments from the community.
At LAFCO’s Wednesday, September 21 meeting they will vote to accept the Service Review requested by the City of Twentynine Palms.
We laid out what’s on the line for TPWD in two recent articles: LAFCO Report Supports Collaboration -- Not Consolidation on May 21, and Supervisor Rowe Comes Out Swinging In Support of TPWD Takeover on August 7.
In short — the City of Twentynine Palms, aligned with County-level power brokers like Supervisor Dawn Rowe, prefers a future where TPWD is consolidated into the City of Twentynine Palms. In contrast, many local Twentynine Palms residents would prefer TWPD continue as it is — a separate Special District which does one thing and does it well: provide reliable and cheap water for local residents.
Now residents have a final opportunity to tell the LAFCO Commission that we want Twentynine Palms Water District to remain a separate agency.
Email your comments to: lafco@lafco.sbcounty.gov and put “Comment for September 21 Service review 3252, Agenda item #6” in the subject line.
If you keep your written comment brief, it will be read aloud at the meeting by a LAFCO representative
