people are talking about a NEW solar field along Lear Ave. already broken ground ! how is this happening without any discussion from the planning & city councils ??

It's on County land and was approved in early 2025.

We who live to the east of the fast tracked solar farm on Lear are already getting dusted from this construction!

The area known historically in 29 Palms as the “Sugarbowl” is an unusual location for a soar farm.

The sight of this big eroded hill of “sugar” has always been a pleasant landmark of 29 Palms.

Why choose the largest sand dune in town to place this solar farm on? The array will need a lot of maintenance to keep it sand free.

Residents to the east of the project will be sandblasted when the disturbed desert sand gets blown from our prevailing N/W winds.

There are also several drainages lying W/E and small areas draining down the dune N/S

Inconveniently, drainages will probably need “management” to keep the area clean and accessible.

Aren’t there nice big flat tracts of land bordering Indian Trail that also have access to electrical transmission lines?
