Two weeks after its marathon budget session, the Council returns with a lighter load: a closed session on the town attorney, a 2nd read on gas at Walmart, and a new animal shelter partnership
Why is there a pastor at the town meeting? Is this normal? I am a new resident to Yucca Valley and a journalist. I've heard rumors that many members of town council are also on church boards which I find to be a conflict of interest. My apologies if this is well tread, I'm shocked that a municipal entity would go out of its way to exclude its queer constituents...it's unacceptable!
Up here in the Morongo Basin, yes it is normal. In Yucca, there is a list of pre-approved churches for the invocation, in 29 Palms there isn’t a formal list but most are drawn from the Ministerial Association. However, in 29, it’s possible to request the opportunity to give the invocation — that’s much tougher in Yucca.
Wild, I moved to YV a year ago and I’m trying to figure this place out, politically. I also heard they’re against murals? And told Sinclair to remove their dinosaur?!
