The parcels are set aside for different uses — the miniature golf is on a City owned parcel set aside for building a park and recreation activities, in an area where there is already a theater. The solar farm is on leased private land in residential zoning adjacent to an existing neighborhood. Even though solar farms are currently illegal in 29 Palms, if were planned for industrial or commercial zoning towards the outskirts of town, the objections might be less vehement.
Makes sense. But as I pointed out in earlier discussions, this NIMBY stuff with solar projects is a nationwide trend. REVEAL did a very good podcast on the subject.
I’m not getting this. Miniature golf is OK, but solar is bad? I’d this the 1950s? No sympathy for the NIMBY folks. Climate change is a crisis.
