I'm a resident of 29 Palms, a writer and editor who has owned a place here since 2017 but started living here full-time (more or less) a year ago. I completely agree with Ramsey on the need for construction standards. I also think that if the town wants to attract the kind of people he's talking about (that would be great) we need basic amenities. Not just the Luckie Park outdoor pool that's only open in the summer and super crowded with kids, but a community center, YMCA type place with dance classes (desperately needed!), an indoor pool, tennis courts, racquetball, gym - although Total Fitness isn't bad, actually. A coffeehouse/cafe that's big and grungy/alternative with good internet....OK, I'm dreaming.
