Letter to the Editor Policy

The Desert Trumpet does not have a “Letter to the Editor” section and may choose to hold letters until we are able to publish them or group letters into a single post. We lack the capacity to publish all letters received.

Letters should be addressed to editor@deserttrumpet.org

1. Letters must include a full name, phone number and address - anonymous letters will not be considered.

2. Letters must address an issue reported on by the Desert Trumpet or call attention to an issue of concern to Twentynine Palms or Morongo Basin residents. Personal attacks on individuals will be rejected.

3. The maximum word count for a letter is 500 words.

4. We reserve the right to factcheck letters - letters with questionable assertions will be returned to the author for corrections or rejected

5. Letters will be copyedited if needed. Copyedited letters will be shared with the writer for review.

6. We occasionally receive letters that need additional work to reach their potential, we will offer to work with authors on a selective basis to maximize the impact of their letters
