As we approach our third anniversary, we’re happy to report that the Desert Trumpet continues to grow, adding 256 subscribers in 2024—we’re close to hitting 1,000 subscribers! 2024 also saw some big changes as we joined the movement towards nonprofit journalism and began operating under the auspices of our fiscal receiver Aha Projects, who we thank for their generous underwriting of our reporting.

And of course, we are also VERY appreciative of the vote of confidence made by our 66 paid subscribers.

if you have the means to support our work, won’t you consider helping us meet our $5,000 Winter Upgrade goal? We have $1,500 to go — that’s just 30 paid subscriptions!

Why Support Us?

Many communities in the Morongo Basin are economically disadvantaged, so our reporting will always be free. However, if you have the means to support our work, won’t you consider helping us meet our $5,000 Winter Upgrade goal? We have $1,500 to go — that’s just 30 paid subscriptions!

Your subscriptions and donations support:
•Everything we currently do including Twentynine Palms City Hall reporting on all Council and Commission meetings as well as on issues crucial to our City
•Coverage of local elections
•Explainers on complex subjects such as the potential solar farm and the endangered desert tortoise.
•Industry standard pay for staff and writers

Your subscriptions and donations will help us build:
•Coverage of the Morongo Basin including Yucca Valley City Hall and unincorporated areas such as Joshua Tree, Wonder Valley, Flamingo Heights and Landers
•Investigative reporting of Morongo Basin environmental, equity and social justice issues
•Spanish translation of City Hall reporting

We can also accept wire transfers, payments view paypal and checks. Email us at editor@deserttrumpet.org for details.
